Scientists and researchers from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology have discovered that the mechanical stress applied by direct forces can produce electrical energy when in contact with certain elastic materials. Certain materials have what is known as piezoelectric energy, which means that the molecules inside can be compressed to produce thermal energy. In some elastic materials like silicon elastomer, this energy can then be converted into electric energy. By using machines that can repeatedly vibrate these materials, convection of the electricity to the open grid can supply clean, green energy. The only problem is that the materials can wear away and the amount of energy produced is insignificant. Still climate change can be averted!
